Today Vincent Van Gogh is supposed to be one of the greatest Dutch painters. He was not famous, popular and rich while alive. Moreover, mr. Van Gogh remained poor and virtually unknown from the cradle to the grave.

The great artist was born in 1853, Netherlands. His style is applicable to post-impressionists’ movement and all his works are characterized by unique beauty, emotion and color. When he was a child painting was a hobby, but became a profession in the adulthood.  All his works were full of sun and good mood and nowadays people don’t understand why his paintings were not sold. Perhaps, it was caused by the specific feature of the artist’s style. 

He created the unusual mixture of impressionism and expressionism. It had rarely been done before, if two arts were combined. The most popular works of the artists are following:  ‘Starry Night’, ‘Sunflowers’, ‘Bedroom in Arles’, ‘Portrait of Dr Gachet’ and ‘Sorrow’. Mikhail Lomonosov is the father of the Russian sciences and outstanding poet, the founder of Russian literature. Lomonosov was born in 1711 in Arhangelsk province. He liked to spend his time fishing with his father. He began to read himself then he was a little boy. He wanted to study and when he was 19 he went by foot to Moscow. He decided to enter the Slavic-Greek-Latin academy. He entered it and six years later in 1736 he was sent abroad to complete his studies in chemistry and mining. Lomonosov worked hard and he became a great scientist. He was a physicist, a painter and astronomer, a geographer, a historian and a statesman. Lomonosov made a telescope; he observed a lot of stars and planets with his telescope. Lomonosov wrote the first scientific grammar of Russian language. He wrote many poems. Lomonosov build a factory near Petersburg. It was a factory where glass was produced. He made a portrait of Peter I of pieces of glass. Lomonosov was the founder of the first Russian University. This University is named after Lomonosov and it is situated in Moscow. Lomonosov died in 1765 but people still know and remember him.

Sir Isaac Newton is an English scientist and mathematician. He was born in 1642, on the 25th of December in the little village of Woolsthorpe in England. His father was a wealthy farmer but he had died before Isaac was born.

Newton published his discoveries in two books which contain his three laws of motion and the universal gravitation law. The scientist used these laws to predict the motion of the planets around the Sun, the stars and comets motion. Isaac Newton studied optics and developed the theory of colour: he discovered that a prism could decompose white light into a multicoloured spectrum. He was also the constructor of the first practical reflecting telescope in the world. As for mathematics he and Leibniz developed the fundamental theorem of infinitesimal calculus.

Moreover Isaac Newton devoted his time to studying theology and practicing alchemical experiments. It is known that he published some of his theological researches. He made an attempt to predict the end of the world and he estimated it would happen after the year of 2060.
